The Kings and Queens Dance

On Saturday, April 24th 2010, there was the second Kings and Queens Dance at the Reality Center hosted by Reality Ministries. Sloan and Janie began preparing probably over a month ago. First was the invitation for Janie to be Sloan's date to the dance. She said "YES!" Then Sloan had to take his tuxedo in for cleaning. The flowers had to be ordered, and the van washed off and cleaned out. (Thanks Noah!) Janie had her own preparations getting her dress ready, and having a friend come over for hair and make-up. Sloan and Janie had discussed where to go to dinner, and Janie suggested Satisfaction in Durham's Brightleaf Square.

So the big day came, and Sloan and Janie were all dressed up and looking spectacular! We arrived at Brightleaf and had a fun dinner. Our friend Meredith joined us for the dinner, and it was so nice to hang out with her. Thank you Meredith!
After taking a bunch of pictures, it was time to leave for the dance. Reality Ministries is amazing in their ability to never spare the details when there is any kind of event, and this night they certainly outdid themselves with the details. Janie and Sloan arrived at the Reality Center to walk down the red carpet lined with with cheering friends, bubbles, and photographers. They entered the transformed Reality Center; lights, balloons, stars hanging from the ceiling, with the music already hopping, and Sloan and Janie got a few dances in and mingled a little. We took a quick break, and Sloan and Janie had their picture taken together by a professional photographer. Then it was back to the dance floor. Everyone knows Janie is a dancing queen, and she was in full form this night. Sloan even became a little maniac on the dance floor too.

After a few conga lines and slide dances, it was time to take a break, and we all went to the game room for brownies and punch. While there, Sloan and Janie had a chance to mingle with their friends, hang out, and catch their breath.

Not for too long though, because there was more dancing to do! Janie surprised Sloan with a special request, and the next to the last song of the night was Let it Be. Everyone knows this is Sloan's song, and as they danced, Sloan and Janie sang at the top of their voices as everyone gathered around and celebrated with them.

The last song played, we said our farewells to our friends, Sloan and Janie accepted their rose, balloons, and goody bags as they exited, and we left for home after a very special magical night.
